About Me
Amateur Artist - Brewer - Sister - Mumma - Wife
Ellie Goodliffe is a microbiologist, brewer, and contemporary artist whose work explores the tension between biological precision and emotional chaos.
My practice is rooted in the unseen world. With a professional background in microbiology and the fermentation sciences, I view the world through a lens of growth, decay, and microscopic architecture. Where the lab seeks to categories and control, my art seeks to feel.
I specialize in "Sci-Art"—a fusion of clinical observation and raw, Pop Art-inspired expression. Using diverse media—from the unpredictable blooms of alcohol inks to the literal cultivation of bacteria and yeasts in my Agar Collection—I translate complex pathologies like dementia, addiction, and cellular mutation into high-contrast visual stories.
My work is characterised by a "dopamine-heavy" palette of electric yellows and deep, visceral blues. This aesthetic choice serves as a deliberate counterpoint to the heavy subject matter I often explore, such as mental health and chronic illness. By depicting the "miserable" through a lens of vibrant beauty, I aim to dismantle the stigma of the clinical and invite the viewer into a sensory dialogue with the human condition.
I am open to producing prints and commission work
